2022-2023 COVID-19 Community Update

Dear Old Adobe Union School District Families,

It is hard to believe that our summer break days are coming to a close. We hope you find yourselves rested and ready for a new year. It is also hard to believe that we are going into our fourth school year affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. As a district, we continue to implement disease management strategies to limit disease spread and minimize disruptions to student learning.  Guided by the principle that safe, in-person learning is critical to student well-being and development, we continue to follow the CDPH guidance based on current scientific knowledge and anticipated trends. COVID-19 conditions and guidance can shift rapidly and our response will remain flexible and responsive to these dynamic challenges and we will continue with our ongoing communication. For a quick guide to our most important Covid Protocols this year, please find our one-page FAQs here: FAQs English / FAQs Spanish.
In order to ensure that every OAUSD student and staff member had the opportunity to test before the first day of school, last week we handed out at-home antigen test kits. While not mandatory, we are asking staff and families to test 24 hours prior to returning to campus.
Although the COVID-19 vaccine is not required for the 2022-23 school year, it remains an important tool to limit the spread and severity of the illness. School families are encouraged to make sure their students are up to date on all vaccinations for the coming school year.

This school year we will not be using Concentric for pool surveillance testing. CDPH recommends that antigen tests be considered the primary option for detecting COVID-19 in schools, compared to PCR tests. We will continue to provide free testing services at Sonoma Mountain Elementary Charter School, 1900 Rainier Circle, Petaluma.  Testing is available Monday through Friday from 7:30 am- 10:30 am. Please find information about our free District antigen testing here: English /  Spanish
Our primary goal is to provide safe, in-person learning for our students. In order for us to continue to meet this goal, we must have the cooperation of all members of the OAUSD community.
