From daily upkeep to future-focused projects like classroom upgrades and new construction, we are committed to creating spaces that support learning, growth, and the entire school community.

Maintenance & Operations

The Maintenance & Operations Department plays a key role in keeping Old Adobe Union School District’s facilities safe, functional, and welcoming. Serving five school campuses and the District Office, the team manages:

Building maintenance
Groundskeeping
Custodial services

Our goal is to ensure every site is clean, orderly, and well cared for every day. Through proactive maintenance and responsive support, the department helps create learning environments that reflect the district’s high standards and promote the safety, wellness, and success of all students, staff, and visitors.

We’re also making important upgrades across all school sites to ensure our campuses are safe, comfortable, and welcoming. Current districtwide projects include:

Sonoma Mountain Music Room

The Sonoma Mountain New Music Room and Classrooms Building introduces purpose-built spaces designed to support both instructional and performing arts programs. New classrooms and a dedicated music room create an environment that encourages creativity, collaboration, and focused learning. Together, these spaces enhance the campus by providing students and educators with facilities that better support teaching, learning, and artistic expression.

La Tercera Building H Remodel

Projects Completed

La Tercera Elementary School

Located in the heart of the community, La Tercera Elementary School serves students on a campus that has benefited from past modernization efforts. Measure L funds will continue to support upgrades that enhance safety, functionality, and learning environments for both students and staff.

The campus courtyard was upgraded with drought-tolerant landscaping and rainwater collection tanks, providing efficient irrigation for the site. These improvements support sustainability while creating a welcoming, low-maintenance outdoor space for students and staff.

In addition to the landscape upgrades, new shade structures were installed to create comfortable, protected outdoor areas for learning, play, and gathering.

Loma Vista Immersion Academy

Loma Vista Immersion Academy provides a unique dual-language learning environment. Measure L Funds will modernize campus facilities to better support instructional programs while improving overall campus conditions.

As the marquee new construction project funded by Measure L, Loma Vista Immersion Academy expanded its campus with two new classroom buildings to support growing enrollment and transitional kindergarten. The project features flexible, light-filled classrooms oriented to gardens and outdoor learning spaces that extend education beyond the classroom.

Miwok Valley Elementary Charter School

Miwok Valley Charter School emphasizes experiential and outdoor-based learning. Planned Measure L Improvements focus on maintaining essential infrastructure while enhancing learning spaces across the campus.

The outdoor learning area at Miwok Elementary Charter School creates a functional, shaded space for hands-on instruction, collaboration, and play. The design supports learning outside the classroom in a comfortable, nature-connected setting.

The project also included a building remodel and a modernized library to improve learning spaces and student resources. These updates support a more functional and engaging campus environment.

Old Adobe Elementary Charter School

As one of the district’s longstanding schools, Old Adobe Elementary has received upgrades over time. Measure L funds will address aging infrastructure and modernize classrooms to meet current educational standards.

Old Adobe Union School District added a new permanent modular building to support TK and early childhood programs. The facility provides bright, efficient classrooms and support spaces and was completed on time for student use.

Sonoma Mountain Elementary Charter School

Sonoma Mountain Elementary School serves students on a spacious campus that supports both academic and outdoor activities. Measure L improvements will enhance building systems, classroom environments, and campus exteriors.

Two new portable modular classrooms were installed along with associated site work to provide flexible space for instruction, small-group learning, and student support services. These adaptable rooms expand the campus’s ability to meet a variety of academic and counseling needs in a supportive school setting.

Citizens' Oversight Committee

The District is seeking community members to serve on its independent Citizens’ Oversight Committee, which reviews and reports on the use of Bond Measure L funds approved by voters in 2018. This is a great opportunity to support transparency and stay involved in District facilities planning.

The Committee reviews and reports on bond expenditures to make sure funds are used responsibly and in support of school improvements.

Time Commitment: 2–3 meetings per year
Role: Review project spending and provide community accountability
Impact: Help support safe, modern, and well-maintained schools
