Returning Counselors
We are so excited that you will be returning to Camp for 2026!
As a returning counselor, you are the heart of the OAUSD Outdoor Education tradition. You already know the magic of this week, and this year, we’re looking to you to lead by example. Beyond the hikes and games, your experience will be vital in mentoring new counselors and ensuring our 6th graders have the best week possible. We're excited to see you back and deepening those camp connections!
As a reminder, All Counselors must complete the camp paperwork assigned by the camp directors before Camp Training and participating in the Camp Program. If you have questions or do not have access to a printer, please email us at adobecamp6@gmail.com.
Role of a Returning CounselorAs a returning counselor, you are the backbone of the camp experience. Your primary role is to champion the well-being of your campers while serving as a mentor and teammate to your fellow counselors. By leading with high energy and authentic ENTHUSIASM, you help set the tone for the entire week. Your experience turns challenges into triumphs and creates lasting memories our 6th graders will carry for a lifetime. You are an essential to the camp team!
Pre-Camp TrainingTraining is primarily designed for 1st and 2nd-year counselors to build community and gain essential program knowledge. However, 3rd-year veterans and beyond are always welcome to join the fun and show everyone how it’s done during The Captain is Coming! We’ll see you on Friday, March 27th, at 4:00 PM at La Tercera to kick off the season.
Friday Camp PrepAll counselors arrive at camp on Friday, April 24th—the day before campers arrive— to set up cabins, tent sites, and other facilities for the week. This time is vital for reviewing important safety information and, most importantly, building the initial team bond that ensures a successful program. Regarding transportation, all high school counselors will ride the designated bus to and from camp, while all counselors who have graduated from high school will carpool to and from the site with other staff members.
Week of CampThe week of camp is a whirlwind of absolute fun, occasional chaos, and lifelong memories. As a returning counselor, you are there to challenge yourself, support those around you, and facilitate a one-of-a-kind experience for the campers. This is your opportunity to grow as a leader and create an unforgettable adventure that our 6th graders will never forget!
