Loving Hands
  • The counselors in Old Adobe Union School District work as a team to bring the most current and compassionate work possible to support students in our district. We will soon have an email availble so that parents can ask general questions where we will be choosing one question a month to answer here in the Counselor Corner under the Parent Questions page. While we are hired to support our students, we are mindful that it "takes a village" and welcome communication from all involved in a child's life. We look forward to working with your children and being as supportive to you as much as we can!

Counselor Kim Buksa

  • Counselor Kim Buska

Hi! I am Kim Buksa and I am one of the School Counselors at Sonoma Mountain Elementary on Fridays. I have a special knack for connecting with kids. I bring a calm, easy presence, warm-hearted compassion and a sense of humor to my work. This makes counseling a place that children want to be.
I received my Bachelor of Arts in Psychology at Sonoma State University and my Masters in Counseling at CIIS in San Francisco. From there I held internships in San Francisco, Novato, Santa Rosa and Petaluma. I settled in Petaluma with my family where I got licensed as an MFT and started my work as a therapist in private practice and a school counselor.Over time I have developed this specialty working with children and adolescents. I find that my work with kids, both as a school counselor and as a therapist in private practice is deeply fulfilling and immeasurably fun! I feel incredibly lucky every day to get to do the work that I love.
