On the La Tercera STEM Calendar, you will find exciting STEM activities for each month. This month you are responsible for completing a STEM challenge at home and bringing it to school. Pictures of the activity are acceptable as well.
If you complete one of the activities below and bring it to Mrs. Corbett the week of January 23-27, 2017 you will receive a prize. You may also create any of the items from the STEM activity of the Week to receive a prize. Have fun!

If you came to our FOSS Science Week, you saw the amazing catapults generated from our 6th graders. I hope that will serve as an inspiration to try out this activity at home. What does Pi Day celebrate?
Pi day celebrates the number pi, also written with the Greek letter π.
When is Pi Day celebrated?
March 14th. This is because the number π starts out with 3.14 and March 14th can be written 3-14.
Who celebrates this day?
This is just a fun day to celebrate math. It's mostly celebrated by mathematicians, math teachers, rock stars (just kidding), and math students.
