It is a great pleasure and an honor to be the principal of Old Adobe Elementary Charter School. After working for many years in elementary education as a classroom teacher, a reading intervention teacher, a curriculum coordinator and an assistant principal, I have found a wonderful professional home as principal here at Old Adobe.
Since joining the team in August of 2019, I have been impressed with many aspects of the school and the community. The professionalism, dedication and love that the teachers demonstrate on a daily basis are inspiring and show their deep commitment to the education and well-being of children. While holding high academic expectations, we also recognize the importance of celebrating childhood and nurturing the personal and interpersonal development of students. We use a wide variety of rich, environmentally-focused and arts-infused curriculum that keeps learning relevant and exciting for the students and builds a foundation of respect for the environment, valuing of the arts, and caring for one another.
The students at Old Adobe are amazing! Their creativity and hard work show in all of their projects, performances, and in our beautiful edible garden. They treat each other with respect and kindness, and when mistakes are made, they are quick to forgive each other. It is clear that they love our school and all of the things that make it a unique learning environment!
The parent community is warm, welcoming and very involved in the life of the school. Our PTO is a tremendous asset to our program, and organizes many school community events and fundraisers. The collaborative efforts of the staff, parents and students make this a wonderful place to learn and work.
