OAUSD Expanded Learning Programs

Kids Care & Camp Wannabigadventure

California’s Expanded Learning programs are an integral part of young people’s education, engaging them in year-round learning opportunities that prepare them for college, career, and life. ~ California Department of Education, After School Programs. 2014.

The OAUSD Child Development Department is proud to offer the Kids Care before and after school program, and Camp Wannabigadventure summer camp.  These Expanded Learning Programs provide a safe and educationally enriching option for children and youth during non-school hours.  Partially funded through the California Department of Education, our programs incorporate best practices and required elements as outlined by the California Department of Education in Quality Standards for Expanded Learning 2013, Learning in After School Principles and 2014-2015 Strategic Plan “A Vision for Expanded Learning in California”.

Our Vision: Cultivating Community, Compassion, Creativity and Confidence

KIDS CARE PROGRAM

The Kids Care before and after school program is designed to provide a safe, youth-development focused environment where students participate in a variety of activities designed to support healthy social, emotional, academic, and physical development.   Before-school care includes quiet activities, homework completion, and special activities. Our after school program incorporates best practices and required elements as outlined by the After School Education and Safety (ASES) Program, administered through California Department of Education.  Our staff collaborate regularly with core day staff to ensure consistent alignment with core day focus and support student overall academic success.  All staff are CPR and First Aid certified. The program includes:
