The Old Adobe District seeks to maintain high academic standards while teaching the whole child. Our goal is to prepare young people to be caring and well informed so that they can take leadership roles wherever their journey takes them. This photograph shows Dr. Zimmerman listening to sixth graders reading their sonnets in Mrs. McClure's class. Old Adobe Schools Prepares Students for Junior High School: "Regarding the Old Adobe writing preparation, we're seeing our students with a more consistent understanding of the structure of an essay - 5 paragraph. Also, there's an understanding of the role that a thesis plays in an essay. The Old Adobe district writing program provides a clear foundation that complements our own writing program and allows us to build on it with deeper critical and analytical thought. The visual arts program also trains the students to analyze a text, seeking both meaning and evidence - all important to the kinds of essays they write in junior high and high school." -Casey Stuelpe, 7th grade English teacher
